Apple originally said it would take the beginning of October 2007 before they sold their one millionth iPhone, but figures show that in fact the magic number was reached last weekend.
The device has only been on sale for 74 days. Apple head honcho, Steve Jobs, reminded us that it took 2 years before the worldwide phenomenon of the iPod sold the same number.
The current 4Gb version is likely to be axed shortly, and the 8Gb version has seen its price dropped from $599 to $399 – a substantial saving on an item that is already selling like there is no tomorrow.
It is believed that price cut was because Apple had received misleading figures about their sales performance but the one millionth sale 3 weeks ahead of schedule proves differently.
Apple are hoping to sell 10 million iPhone’s worldwide in 2008.
